Salford City delivered a statement performance with a 4-1 away victory over Oldham Athletic in League Two on Saturday. The win at Boundary Park lifts Micky Mellon's side to 12th in the table, now on 10 points from seven games.

Luke Molyneux set the tone by opening the scoring inside five minutes, finishing from a Joe Powell assist. Kelly N'Mai doubled the lead midway through the first half, capitalising on Salford's early dominance. Oldham pulled one back through Calum Kavanagh shortly after, but the visitors' control was never seriously threatened.

Second-half control

Salford reasserted their authority after the break. Brendan Sarpeng-Wiredu made it 3-1 just before the hour mark, converting after good work from Molyneux. The scoring was completed ten minutes from time when substitute Adebola Olowu powered in a header from a Luke Garbutt free-kick. Manager Micky Mellon utilised his squad with four second-half changes as his team managed the game professionally.

Statistically, Salford edged possession with 53 percent and were more clinical, registering seven shots on target from 16 attempts. The defensive unit, marshalled by Will Norris in goal, limited Oldham to only three efforts on target despite facing 18 shots overall. Abraham Odoh and Macaulay Langstaff received yellow cards for Salford in a match officiated by Isaac Searle.

The result extends a positive run for the Ammies, who have now taken ten points from their last five matches. Attention now turns to building on this momentum at home. Salford City's next fixture is against Fleetwood Town at the Peninsula Stadium on October 3.
