The match will be the Ammies’ first home league test this campaign, offering a chance to reset after a disappointing start.
The last time Salford played at home in League Two was a week earlier, when midfielders Oisin Gallagher and Charlie Lakin struck in the first half to set up Kabongo Tshimanga for the decisive goal. Adebola Oluwo’s late consolation was a minor consolation in a 3-1 defeat that left the squad searching for a better performance.
Salford finished the previous season with a 3-0 loss to Notts County at Wembley, a defeat that halted their hopes of promotion to League One. The new season has been greeted with a fresh squad and a “fiery” outlook from manager Peter Cklamovski, who is eager to see the team perform better on home soil.
Chesterfield, who entered the campaign last weekend, also had a mixed start, securing a win over Fleetwood Town thanks to veteran forward Ched Evans. Their recent history against Salford is sparse, with the last victory over the Spireites occurring in 2018 during a National League match.
Cklamovski remains optimistic about the upcoming clash. He said, “As disappointed as we were with the performance, there are still some positives to take from it that we put into the training week.” He added that the focus will be on playing their own football, building performance, and keeping clean sheets.
The manager also expressed excitement about his first time in the home dugout in League Two. “Players are buzzing, we’ve trained well, we’ve got another training session to get right, but I’m very excited to get on our pitch, play our football and keep building towards the team we dream to be.” The match will be a key moment for Salford to re-establish themselves at the Peninsula and start the season on a stronger footing.
