Salford City continue their cup campaign with an EFL Trophy group stage fixture away at Accrington Stanley on Tuesday evening. The match at the Crown Ground kicks off at 7pm as the League Two leaders look to build on a positive start to the season.
Neil Wood's side go into the game on the back of a 1-0 home win over Fleetwood Town last Saturday, a result that kept them one point clear at the summit. Their recent form shows three wins, a draw and a single defeat from the last five outings across all competitions.
Recent form of both teams
Accrington Stanley approach the tie after a 2-0 home victory against Cheltenham Town. Salford's own sequence includes that win over Fleetwood and a comprehensive 4-1 away victory at Oldham Athletic.
Team news from recent matches
Stanley lined up in a 3-1-4-2 formation for their last match, with Louie Moulden in goal and Sean Conneely and Jayden Anderson in defence. Salford deployed a 5-3-2 shape against Fleetwood, featuring Will Norris, Luke Molyneux and match-winner Macaulay Langstaff. Manager Neil Wood is expected to rotate his squad for this cup fixture, with the full squad list available on our squad page.
The focus quickly returns to league duty after this midweek outing. Salford City's next match is a trip to face Cheltenham Town, who are currently fourth in the table, on Saturday.
